Film for Off the Streets and into Work

Working with filmmaker Bea Brennan, Jellymould has just completed a video for Off the Streets and into Work, a small agency working with homeless people in London and Newcastle.

The film focuses on the work of the agency’s Transitional Spaces Project, a three-year pilot programme designed to help hostel residents find work as a way to move away from homelessness. The programme uses information, advice and guidance alongside motivational coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy and participants are supported by a property coach to find accommodation in the private rented sector, rather than waiting for social housing to become available.

It’s unusual in the homelessness sector to focus on work and training before a person is rehoused, but TSP has shown this is a great approach that works for many people. Utilising the private rented sector as a housing solution for homeless people is also a developing area in the homelessness sector.

The film was shown at the organisation’s conference on 4th March 2010, hosted by Clifford Chance.

We have worked with Off the Streets and into Work on a number of other projects:

The Money Matters workbook
Your Passport to Renting a Private Home - a printed guide
Renting a Flat in the Private Rented Sector - video
