Website for carers launched by Lord Mayor

The former Lord Mayor of London, Councillor Carolyn Keen, launched a new website for carers on 25th March 2009. Councillor Keen had chosen carers as the focus of the Mayor’s charity during her time in office and it is due to her generous funding that Carers Network Westminster were able to develop a website for carers.
Jellymould worked with Carers Network Westminster to understand the needs of carers, and to understand their particular type of web usage. We found that carers do use the Internet, despite their incredibly busy and physically demanding lives, but that they are often distracted, grabbing a few minutes at a time, and need quick, logical results for their queries.
During a period of research and discussion, in which carers were asked to provide input at several stages, the site took shape in everyones’ minds, changing from a mix of brochure and service directory, into a complete resource of sign-posting information.
Each page of the website invites feedback in two ways, and it is our hope that we will work with the charity to develop and improve the website over time.
